Mobile car AC repair and gas refill in Riyadh

Not cooling in a Riyadh summer? We bring gauges, electronic leak detection and a charging machine to your car, day or night.

When an air conditioner stops cooling in Riyadh it is rarely a mystery. Most cars we attend have lost refrigerant slowly through an O-ring, a condenser seam or the compressor shaft seal. Others have a clutch that no longer engages, a radiator fan that has given up, or a blower and cabin filter packed solid with dust. We arrive with manifold gauges, a recovery and charging machine, electronic leak detection, UV dye and vacuum equipment, so the system gets measured before anything is added to it.

The technician connects to both service ports with the engine running, reads high and low side pressures, then explains what those readings mean for your car. Sometimes the answer is a re-gas after a small repair. Sometimes it is a cabin filter, a fin clean and a working fan. Sometimes the compressor is finished and the honest answer is a bigger job. You get the reading, the cause and a total price before work starts, and nothing is added to that price afterwards.

What a mobile AC service actually involves

An air conditioning system is a sealed loop. The compressor pressurises refrigerant, the condenser sitting in front of the radiator dumps that heat into the outside air, an expansion valve or orifice tube drops the pressure, and the evaporator behind the dashboard absorbs heat out of the cabin. Nothing in that loop is consumed during normal use. If the gas level is low, it escaped somewhere, and topping it up without finding the leak means you will be calling again before the summer is over.

So the visit starts with pressure readings on both sides, at idle and at raised revs. Then comes a leak trace with an electronic detector and UV dye, or a nitrogen pressure hold if the system is already empty. Once the leak is repaired we recover the old refrigerant with a machine, pull a deep vacuum to boil moisture out of the lines, hold that vacuum to prove the system is tight, then charge by weight to the figure on the under-bonnet label. Vent temperature is measured before we pack up.

Signs your car AC needs attention

  • Air blows from the vents but it is barely cooler than the outside air, and worst when the car is standing still
  • Cooling is fine at speed on the Northern Ring Road and disappears the moment traffic stops
  • A click from the front of the engine every few seconds as the compressor cuts in and out
  • A squeal or rattle from the belt area that changes as soon as you press the AC button
  • A musty, damp smell from the vents in the first minute after starting
  • Weak airflow at every fan speed, even on maximum with the recirculation closed
  • Water dripping onto the passenger footwell carpet instead of under the car
  • The AC light or the auto climate display switching itself off after a few minutes

What the on-site AC visit covers

  • Manifold gauges connected and high and low side pressures recorded at idle and at raised revs
  • Compressor clutch engagement, belt condition and pulley bearing noise checked
  • Condenser face inspected for packed sand, flattened fins and stone damage, then cleaned
  • Electronic leak detection at service ports, hoses, O-rings, receiver drier and compressor seal
  • Existing refrigerant recovered by machine rather than vented to the air
  • Deep vacuum pulled and held to confirm the system is sealed before any charge goes in
  • R134a or R1234yf charged by weight to the manufacturer figure, with the correct PAG oil and dye
  • Cabin filter replaced and the evaporator drain cleared if it is blocked
  • Centre vent temperature measured and shown to you before payment

What Riyadh does to an AC system

At 48°C the condenser has to reject heat into air that is already hot, so head pressure runs near the top of its range for hours at a time. Every seal, hose and O-ring lives at that pressure all summer, which is why leaks show up years earlier here than in a mild climate. Rubber hardens and shrinks, the receiver drier saturates with moisture, and the compressor barely rests because cabin temperature rarely falls far enough for the system to cycle off. Riyadh AC systems do not fail from age so much as from continuous load.

Dust is the second half of the problem. Fine sand packs into the condenser fins and loads the cabin filter, and a blocked condenser cannot shed heat no matter how much gas is in the system. Cars that idle on King Fahd Road or crawl out of a basement car park get very little natural airflow through the front of the car, so clean fins and a healthy fan matter more in Riyadh than almost anywhere. We clean and test before we condemn parts, and a fair number of weak-cooling complaints are solved with a fin wash and a new filter.

Transparent pricing — agreed before we start

We quote before we work. The technician measures the system first, explains what the pressures and the leak test show, then gives you one total for the job in Saudi riyals covering parts and labour. If a repair needs a part that is not on the van, you hear that on the spot along with what it changes about the plan. Nothing goes into your air conditioning system and no refrigerant is charged until you have agreed the number out loud.

Then nothing is added to that total. When the work is done we run the system and measure the temperature at the centre vent in front of you, and the amount you settle by cash, card or bank transfer is the amount you agreed. If the diagnosis points to a job that genuinely needs a workshop, an evaporator buried behind the dashboard for example, we say so plainly rather than half-fixing it, and you are not charged for work we could not complete at your car.

AC Repair & Gas — questions we get

At low road speed there is no ram air through the condenser, so the system depends entirely on the fan. If the fan is weak, the fan relay has failed, or the fins are packed with sand, head pressure climbs and cooling collapses. It usually returns above 80 km/h. We test fan operation and pressures at idle, because that is where this fault shows itself.

Yes. The recovery and charging machine, gauges and leak detector all travel on the van, and the job runs off your car's own engine, so no workshop power is needed. Villa driveways, compound parking bays and basement car parks are all fine. We only need enough room to open the bonnet and stand at the front. Basements are often cooler, which makes the work easier.

Most Riyadh addresses see a technician in around 10 minutes. Distance, time of day and traffic on the ring roads change that, so we give you a realistic arrival window when you call or message on WhatsApp. We work 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including Fridays, Ramadan and Eid, so a hot afternoon and a midnight call get the same treatment.

No. Refrigerant is not consumed, so a low system is a leaking system. Adding gas and driving away means paying again in a few weeks, and a system running short of gas also runs short of oil, which is exactly how compressors die. We trace the leak, tell you what the repair costs, and re-gas afterwards so the charge stays where it belongs.

Yes. We carry both R134a and R1234yf along with separate equipment for each, because the two must never be mixed and the service fittings are deliberately different. Tell us the make, model and year when you call so the right refrigerant is loaded before we set off. The label under the bonnet states the type and the exact charge weight, and we charge to that figure.

It depends entirely on what the pressures and the leak test reveal, so we publish no figure that would mislead you. A cabin filter and a re-gas is a different job from a condenser or a compressor. You get the diagnosis and a full price before anything is touched, and that price does not move once the vent temperature has been measured in front of you.

Usually it is mould on the evaporator or a clogged cabin filter rather than a refrigerant problem. Riyadh dust loads a filter fast and condensation keeps the evaporator core damp in the dark. We fit a new filter, clear the drain so water leaves the car properly, and treat the core. Running the fan without AC for the last minute of a drive helps keep it dry.

Often yes, when the compressor is reachable without stripping the front of the car. We recover the gas, fit the compressor and a new receiver drier, flush the lines where the old unit shed debris, then vacuum and recharge on site. On some engines it sits deep in the bay and the honest answer is a workshop with a lift. We tell you which one you have before you commit.
