Mobile Ford repair and servicing in Riyadh
Explorer, Expedition, F-150 or Mustang — a technician comes to your Ford with module-level diagnostics, and a flatbed follows if the car cannot be driven.
Ford in Riyadh means big engines doing hard work in high heat. An Explorer on the school run and the Eastern Ring Road, an Expedition loaded with seven people and luggage heading out of the city on a Thursday, an F-150 carrying weight all week, a Mustang that lives in a compound and gets driven properly on cool evenings. All of them share the same basic problem in this climate: a large V6 or V8 makes a great deal of heat, and Riyadh gives it very little help getting rid of it.
That is why most of our Ford call-outs come back to cooling, air conditioning, electrics and transmission temperature. We arrive with a scan tool that reads every module the car has, not just the engine, plus pressure testing equipment, refrigerant recovery and charging gear, battery stock in the heavy sizes these vehicles need, and the common service parts. You get the readings, the cause and one total price before anything is opened, and nothing is added to that figure afterwards. If the job needs a lift, we say so, and we can bring a flatbed for a vehicle this size rather than leaving you to find one.
Why a Ford works harder in Riyadh than the spec sheet suggests
The American cars sold here are big, heavy and thirsty for cooling. An Explorer or an Expedition weighs well over two tonnes before you put a family in it, and every one of those kilograms has to be stopped by the brakes, carried by the suspension and dragged through 48°C air by an engine that is already fighting to stay at temperature. Add a roof box, a full cabin and a run up the Eastern Ring Road in July and the cooling system, the gearbox oil and the air conditioning are all working at the top of their range at the same time.
Then there is how these vehicles are actually used. Long idles with the engine running and the air conditioning at maximum, because nobody switches off in a car park in summer. Slow traffic, where a big engine gets almost no natural airflow through the radiator. Sand packing the condenser and radiator fins until they can no longer shed heat. Short trips to the compound gate that never bring the oil up to temperature, then a long fast run the next day. Ford owners here rarely worry about the engine itself — they worry about heat, about the gearbox, and about the electrics and screens, and those worries are well founded.
Common Ford faults we fix in Riyadh
- Coolant level dropping steadily with nothing on the ground under the car, which on the V6 engines with an internally driven water pump means the leak is going inside the engine rather than out — an early diagnosis here saves a very large bill
- Overheating or a temperature gauge that climbs only in slow traffic and settles again at speed, pointing at a sand-blocked radiator and condenser, a failing cooling fan or fan clutch, or a degas bottle that is no longer holding pressure
- A rattle from the front of the engine for the first few seconds after a cold start on the V8, from the variable cam phasers, which owners usually describe as a diesel-like noise that disappears once the oil pressure comes up
- Harsh or delayed shifts and a shudder that feels like driving over rumble strips at light throttle, from a torque converter or a gearbox that has been run hot in Riyadh traffic on old fluid
- Misfire and a flashing engine light on the turbocharged and direct-injection V6 engines, from failing coils, worn plugs or carbon on the intake valves, felt as a shake at idle and a loss of power under boost
- Air conditioning that cools at speed and goes warm in traffic, plus the clicking noise behind the dashboard from a failed blend door actuator that leaves one side of the car cold and the other warm
- Electrical and screen faults — the infotainment freezing or rebooting, warning messages appearing and clearing, door ajar messages with the doors shut — which are module and latch faults rather than anything mechanical
- Brakes, ball joints and bushes wearing early on Explorer and Expedition, felt as a shudder under braking, a knock over speed bumps and a steering wheel that no longer sits straight, because a heavy vehicle in city traffic punishes all three
Why Ford owners in Riyadh call us
- Cooling is the job we get called to most on these vehicles, so the van carries the pressure testing equipment, a proper coolant fill and vacuum tool, thermostats and hose stock, and we test the whole system rather than just topping up a bottle that will be empty again next week
- We know how the V6 internal water pump fails, so a Ford losing coolant with no visible leak gets checked correctly instead of having its hoses replaced twice while the real fault carries on quietly destroying the engine
- The scan tool reads the whole vehicle — powertrain, transmission, four-wheel-drive system, ABS, airbag, body control, tyre pressure and the infotainment module — because on a modern Ford most of the complaints owners bring us are not engine faults at all
- Big American vehicles need the correct heavy battery with high cold cranking amps and the right terminal layout, and we carry those sizes rather than fitting something smaller that will surrender in the first hot week
- Air conditioning on an Expedition or Explorer has front and rear circuits and long lines under the vehicle, so we pressure test and leak trace both rather than gassing the system and hoping
- If a two-tonne Ford cannot be driven, we do not leave you to sort out recovery. A flatbed comes to the same address, at any hour, and takes the vehicle where it needs to go
What diagnosing a modern Ford actually requires
A modern Ford is a network of modules talking to each other, and the fault the driver notices is often reported by a module that is nowhere near the part that failed. We connect a scan tool capable of manufacturer-level access across the vehicle — powertrain, transmission, four-wheel drive, ABS and stability control, airbag, body control, instrument cluster, tyre pressure and infotainment — and read live data alongside the stored and pending codes. On a cooling complaint that means watching actual coolant temperature against fan commands and thermostat behaviour. On a transmission complaint it means gearbox oil temperature, torque converter slip and adaptive shift data. On an electrical complaint it means finding which module dropped off the network and when.
At your car we can complete a full module scan, run actuator and output tests, pressure test the cooling system, recover and recharge the air conditioning, replace coils, plugs, sensors, thermostats, hoses, batteries, brakes and filters, and reset service and adaptation values afterwards. What genuinely cannot be finished at the kerb is module programming that needs a licensed online session with the manufacturer's servers, key programming that needs security authorisation, and any internal engine or gearbox work — an internally leaking water pump, a torque converter, a cylinder head or an evaporator behind the dashboard. We tell you which side of that line your car falls on before you spend anything.

Where we service Ford in Riyadh
Ford repair in Riyadh — FAQs
No. We are an independent mobile repair service with no affiliation to Ford or its distributor in Saudi Arabia. We repair and service these vehicles daily, we use manufacturer-level diagnostic equipment, and we fit genuine or OE-quality parts. We do not claim an approval we do not hold, and where a job belongs at the agency, such as an open recall or a covered warranty failure, we tell you to go there.
Warranty terms in the Kingdom come from the distributor, so read your booklet. Routine servicing carried out to the correct specification, with the right oil and filters and a clear record of the work and parts, is normal maintenance. But while your Ford is still inside its factory warranty, a component failure the agency would replace at no cost is better taken to them, and we will tell you that rather than take the job.
That combination matters. On several Ford V6 engines the water pump sits inside the engine and is driven by the timing chain, so when its seal fails the coolant goes into the engine oil rather than onto the ground. Milky oil, a rising level on the dipstick and coolant loss with no visible leak all point that way. We pressure test and check the oil before you spend money on hoses.
It is a warning worth acting on. At speed the airflow through the radiator hides a weak cooling system; in slow traffic the vehicle depends entirely on the fan and clean fins. A gauge that climbs at a standstill usually means a blocked radiator or condenser face, a failing fan or fan clutch, or a thermostat that is not opening fully. We test all of that on site before it becomes a head gasket.
Yes. These vehicles need a physically large battery with high cold cranking amps, and fitting something smaller is how people end up back in the same situation a month later. We carry the correct sizes, test the charging system and check for a parasitic drain before fitting, then reset the battery monitoring where the vehicle uses it. Villa driveways, compounds and basement car parks are all fine.
We can diagnose it at the roadside, and that is the important first step. We read gearbox oil temperature, converter slip and adaptive data, and check the fluid condition. A shudder caught early is sometimes solved by a correct fluid service and a relearn. If the converter or the internals have gone, that is workshop work with the vehicle in the air, and we will tell you plainly rather than sell you a fluid change that will not help.
